River Sands is the Australian market leader in the manufacture and distribution of water filtration media including sands, gravels, coal, garnet and manganese greensand. We also regularly export this material to many water treatment plants throughout Asia.
Strict quality control procedures ensure that all filtration media complies with the AWWA B100 Standard for filtering material.
Sands, Gravels and Coals are selected from deposits that consistently show high quality and then processed at the Carbrook Plant. The media is excellent for gravity and pressure filtration. |

| Standard and custom gradings available |
| |
We offer many standard particle gradings of these products. The most common of each are kept in stock at all times ensuring that your needs can be met without delay. In addition to standard sizes we can also custom produce media to your requirements from written specifications or samples. Our experienced technicians are on hand to provide you with assistance.
River Sands' graded sands are also used for textured and decorative coatings, slip-resistant surfaces, wet sandblasting and soil density testing. Our filter gravel can also be used as decorative pebble and drainage material.

| Filter Sand |
Our filter sand is sourced from the surrounds of the 400 million year old Logan River System.
It is hard and durable and has a slow breakdown rate – thus ensuring a longer filtration life. It also has good backwashing characteristics, particularly when used in dual media filtration with filter coal.
And because our filter sand is washed, dried, screened and packaged (to the AWWA B100 -89 Standard) at the Carbrook site, we can offer competitive prices and prompt delivery.

| Filter Gravel |
Filter gravel is used as a support media to filter sand and coal in water filters.
River Sands Filter Gravel is a hard, round predominantly quartz aggregate. The gravel, like filter sand, contains hard durable particles with a slow breakdown rate. This helps to prolong filter media life.
The gravel is double-washed at our Carbrook plant to remove any impurities such as clay and organic material. The washed gravel is then screened into three standard sizes and packed into bulk bags or 20kg plastic bags. |

| Filter Coal |
All sizes available
Our Filter Coal is mined then crushed, sized and packaged in Australia.
It provides a dense, hard and durable filter media which is free of clay, shale and extraneous material - giving many years of consistent trouble free service. It is particularly effective when used in dual media water filters with filter sand.
River Sands Filter Coal is highly regarded for its hardness and consistency and has a low *Hargroves Grindability Index - encouraging longer filter media life. In addition, the low specific gravity of our filter coal encourages effective backwashing.
Our filter coal is available in bulk bags or 22.5 kg plastic bags.
